Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 Feb 2026

Welcome to Japan Hub.

These Terms of Service explain the rules that apply when you access our website, place an order, purchase a product, create an account, contact us or otherwise use our services.

Please read these Terms carefully before placing an order. By using our website or purchasing from Japan Hub, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights that you have under applicable UK consumer law.

1. About Japan Hub

In these Terms:

  • “Japan Hub”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the business operating the Japan Hub online store;

  • “Customer”, “you” and “your” refer to the person accessing our website or purchasing from us;

  • “Website” refers to the Japan Hub online store and any related pages operated by us;

  • “Product” refers to any physical or digital item offered for sale through our website.

Our contact details are:

2. Application of These Terms

These Terms apply to:

  • Your use of our website;

  • Orders placed through our website;

  • Purchases made from Japan Hub;

  • Communications with our customer support team;

  • Accounts created on our website;

  • Reviews, comments and other content submitted to us.

Additional terms may apply to certain products, promotions or services. Where additional terms apply, they will be displayed before you complete your purchase.

If there is a conflict between these Terms and product-specific terms, the product-specific terms will apply only to the extent of that conflict.

3. Eligibility to Purchase

By placing an order, you confirm that:

  • You have the legal capacity to enter into a contract;

  • The information you provide is complete and accurate;

  • You are authorised to use the payment method selected;

  • You are purchasing for lawful purposes;

  • You will comply with these Terms.

Customers under the age of 18 should only place an order with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.

We reserve the right to apply age-verification procedures where a product is subject to legal age restrictions.

4. Product Selection, Sourcing and Origin

Japan Hub selects products based on factors such as design, quality, functionality, materials, innovation and customer demand.

Products may be:

  • Designed or inspired by Japanese or other Asian design principles;

  • Manufactured in China, Japan, Europe or another country;

  • Distributed by suppliers located in Asia, Europe or elsewhere;

  • Shipped from UK or international fulfilment facilities.

The Japan Hub name does not mean that every product is manufactured in Japan.

Where the country of origin, manufacturer or designer is material to the product, the relevant information will be displayed on the product page, packaging or accompanying documentation where available.

We will not intentionally describe a product as Japanese-made unless we have reasonable grounds to believe that the description is accurate.

5. Product Descriptions and Images

We take reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, specifications, measurements, photographs and other information are accurate.

However:

  • Product colours may appear slightly different depending on your screen or device;

  • Packaging may change without materially changing the product;

  • Measurements may be approximate;

  • Minor design or manufacturing differences may occur;

  • Accessories shown for illustration may not be included unless specifically stated;

  • Product improvements may result in small differences from earlier versions.

These differences do not affect your rights where a product is materially different from its description, faulty or not fit for its intended purpose.

You should review the complete product description before ordering.

6. Product Use and Safety

Products must be used:

  • In accordance with their intended purpose;

  • In accordance with instructions, warnings and safety information;

  • With appropriate supervision where required;

  • In compliance with applicable laws.

You must not use a product in a way that is dangerous, unlawful or inconsistent with the instructions supplied.

Where relevant, you should confirm that electrical products, plugs, voltages, sizes, materials or compatibility requirements are suitable for your intended use before purchasing.

Stop using a product and contact us if you reasonably believe it may be defective or unsafe.

Nothing in this section reduces our responsibilities regarding product safety or your statutory consumer rights.

7. Placing an Order

The website will allow you to review your basket and correct certain errors before submitting an order.

When placing an order, you must provide accurate information, including:

  • Your full name;

  • Delivery address;

  • Billing information;

  • Email address;

  • Telephone number;

  • Payment information;

  • Any necessary delivery instructions.

It is your responsibility to check that your order and contact details are correct before submitting payment.

Placing an order constitutes an offer to purchase products from us. It does not mean that we have accepted the order.

8. Order Confirmation and Contract Formation

After you place an order, we may send an automatic acknowledgement or confirmation email.

This confirms that we have received your order, but it does not necessarily mean that the order has been accepted.

A binding contract will normally be formed when:

  • We send confirmation that the product has been dispatched; or

  • We otherwise expressly confirm that the order has been accepted.

Where an order contains multiple products dispatched separately, a separate contract may be formed for each product when that product is dispatched.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order before acceptance where there is a legitimate reason, including:

  • The product is unavailable;

  • Payment cannot be authorised;

  • We reasonably suspect fraud or unauthorised activity;

  • An obvious pricing or description error has occurred;

  • Delivery cannot be completed to the supplied address;

  • The order breaches these Terms;

  • A legal or regulatory restriction prevents the sale;

  • An unusually large quantity suggests unauthorised resale.

Where payment has already been collected for an order that we cannot accept, we will issue a refund to the original payment method.

9. Prices

Product prices will be displayed on the website before checkout.

Before you submit your order, we will display the total amount payable, including:

  • The product price;

  • Applicable taxes that we are legally required to include;

  • Delivery charges;

  • Any other compulsory charges known to us.

Optional charges will not be added without your consent.

Prices and promotions may change from time to time. A price change will not normally affect an order that we have already accepted.

10. Pricing Errors

We take reasonable care to display accurate prices. However, errors may occasionally occur.

Where an obvious pricing error is identified before an order is accepted, we may:

  • Contact you and offer the option to purchase at the correct price; or

  • Cancel the affected order and issue a full refund.

We will not be required to supply a product at an obviously incorrect price where the error should reasonably have been recognised as a mistake.

This section does not permit us to mislead customers or change an agreed price without a valid reason.

11. Payment

Available payment methods will be displayed during checkout.

By providing payment information, you confirm that:

  • The details are complete and accurate;

  • You are authorised to use the payment method;

  • Sufficient funds or credit are available;

  • The transaction does not breach any applicable law.

Payments may be processed by independent payment service providers. Their own terms and privacy policies may also apply.

We may carry out or request:

  • Payment authorisation;

  • Fraud screening;

  • Address verification;

  • Security checks;

  • Identity verification where reasonably necessary.

We are not responsible for charges imposed independently by your bank, card issuer, payment provider or currency-conversion provider.

12. Fraud Prevention

We reserve the right to delay, refuse or cancel an order where we reasonably suspect:

  • Fraud;

  • Unauthorised payment;

  • Identity misuse;

  • Abuse of promotions;

  • Commercial resale contrary to these Terms;

  • Other unlawful activity.

We may request additional information reasonably necessary to verify an order.

Where appropriate, suspicious activity may be reported to payment providers, financial institutions or relevant authorities.

13. Product Availability

All products are subject to availability.

Placing an item in your basket does not reserve it. A product may become unavailable before the order is accepted.

Where a product becomes unavailable after payment, we may:

  • Offer a suitable alternative, subject to your approval;

  • Provide an estimated restocking date;

  • Cancel the unavailable item and issue a refund.

We will not replace a product with a materially different product without your agreement.

14. Delivery Locations

We primarily deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom.

Availability, charges and estimated delivery times may depend on:

  • The delivery address;

  • The product ordered;

  • The supplier or fulfilment centre;

  • The selected delivery method;

  • Product availability;

  • Customs or carrier restrictions.

We may be unable to deliver to certain remote areas, PO boxes, restricted addresses or locations not supported by our delivery partners.

15. Fulfilment and Separate Parcels

Japan Hub works with different suppliers, warehouses and fulfilment partners.

As a result:

  • Products from the same order may be dispatched separately;

  • Parcels may arrive on different dates;

  • Tracking numbers may be issued separately;

  • A product may be shipped directly by a fulfilment partner;

  • Packaging may display the name or address of a logistics or supply partner.

Receiving separate parcels does not necessarily mean that an item is missing.

Where an order is divided into multiple parcels, you will not be charged additional delivery fees unless this was clearly disclosed and agreed before purchase.

16. Delivery Estimates

Delivery times shown on our website are estimates unless expressly stated otherwise.

Estimated delivery times may be affected by:

  • Processing times;

  • Product availability;

  • Carrier delays;

  • Weather;

  • Public holidays;

  • Customs procedures;

  • Transport disruptions;

  • Incorrect delivery information;

  • Events outside our reasonable control.

We will take reasonable steps to deliver within the timeframe communicated at checkout or in your order confirmation.

Where a significant delay occurs, we will provide available information and explain the options available to you.

Nothing in these Terms removes any right you may have to cancel an order or obtain a refund where delivery is excessively delayed or does not take place as agreed.

17. Delivery Information and Customer Responsibility

You are responsible for providing a complete and accurate delivery address.

Please contact us promptly if you notice an error. We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after processing or dispatch has begun.

Japan Hub is not responsible for delays caused solely by:

  • An incorrect or incomplete address supplied by the customer;

  • Failure to provide necessary access information;

  • Failure to collect a parcel;

  • Repeated absence at the delivery address;

  • Refusal of delivery without properly notifying us of cancellation.

This does not apply where the delivery problem was caused by Japan Hub or its delivery providers.

Additional costs resulting from incorrect information may be charged or deducted from a refund only where legally permitted and where the costs are reasonable.

18. Risk and Ownership

Responsibility for a product normally passes to you when the product is delivered into your physical possession or the possession of a person identified by you to receive it.

The product remains our property until we have received full payment.

Where you nominate a delivery service that was not offered or arranged by Japan Hub, different rules regarding risk may apply as permitted by law.

19. Customs and Import Requirements

Some products may be dispatched from outside the United Kingdom.

Where applicable, customs declarations may identify the actual product, value, origin or sender.

Any compulsory charges that we know will be payable by the customer should be clearly disclosed before the order is completed.

We will not intentionally hide unavoidable compulsory charges or describe them as optional.

Customers purchasing for delivery outside the United Kingdom are responsible for checking applicable local import restrictions and requirements.

20. Your Right to Cancel

Customers purchasing online may have a statutory right to change their mind and cancel eligible orders.

For most eligible physical products, you must normally notify us within 14 days after receiving the product.

After notifying us, you must normally return the product within a further 14 days.

Certain products may be excluded from change-of-mind cancellation rights, including:

  • Personalised or custom-made products;

  • Products that deteriorate or expire rapidly;

  • Sealed hygiene or health-protection products after unsealing;

  • Sealed software, audio or video products after unsealing;

  • Digital content supplied after the required express agreement;

  • Products inseparably mixed with other items after delivery.

Full instructions, return conditions and refund information are contained in our Returns and Refunds Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

21. Faulty, Damaged or Misdescribed Products

Products supplied by Japan Hub must comply with applicable consumer law.

Nothing in these Terms removes your rights where a product is:

  • Faulty;

  • Damaged when delivered;

  • Not of satisfactory quality;

  • Not fit for its intended purpose;

  • Materially different from its description;

  • Incorrectly supplied.

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may be entitled to:

  • A refund;

  • A repair;

  • A replacement;

  • A price reduction;

  • Another appropriate remedy.

Please contact us at support@japanhubofficial.com and provide your order number, a description of the problem and reasonable supporting evidence.

Photographs or videos may help us assess the issue, but requesting evidence will not be used to unreasonably prevent a valid legal claim.

22. Returns and Refunds

Returns and refunds are governed by our separate Returns and Refunds Policy.

Approved refunds will normally be issued to the original payment method.

Banks and payment providers may require additional processing time after a refund has been issued. That processing period is controlled by the payment provider.

Where permitted by law, a reasonable deduction may be made if a returned product has been handled beyond what is necessary to inspect its nature, characteristics and functionality.

No deduction will be made for faults or damage that existed when the product was delivered.

23. Promotions and Discount Codes

Promotions may be subject to additional conditions displayed with the relevant offer.

Unless otherwise stated:

  • Discount codes cannot be exchanged for cash;

  • Codes cannot be applied after an order has been completed;

  • Only one promotional code may be used per order;

  • Promotions may have an expiry date;

  • Promotions may exclude certain products;

  • Promotions are subject to availability;

  • Codes must not be reproduced, sold or distributed without permission.

We may withdraw or correct a promotion where there is an obvious error, fraud or misuse.

We will not cancel an accepted order merely because a promotion was successful or less profitable than expected.

Where part of a bundle or multi-buy promotion is returned, the refund may be recalculated based on the products retained and the promotion’s original conditions.

24. Resale and Commercial Purchases

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, our website is intended primarily for consumer purchases.

You must not use automated systems, false accounts or repeated transactions to acquire unusually large quantities for unauthorised resale.

Customers wishing to make wholesale or commercial purchases should contact us before ordering.

Consumer rights may not apply in the same way to purchases made wholly or mainly for business purposes.

25. Customer Accounts

You may be able to create an account to manage orders or access website features.

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate account information;

  • Keeping login details confidential;

  • Using a secure password;

  • Informing us promptly of suspected unauthorised access;

  • Ensuring that account activity complies with these Terms.

We may suspend or close an account where reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, protect security, comply with law or address serious breaches of these Terms.

We will not close an account for an arbitrary or discriminatory reason.

26. Acceptable Use of the Website

You must not:

  • Use the website for unlawful or fraudulent purposes;

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems or accounts;

  • Introduce viruses, malicious code or harmful technology;

  • Interfere with website operation or security;

  • Scrape or extract data using unauthorised automated systems;

  • Impersonate another person;

  • Submit false payment or contact information;

  • Abuse promotions or refund procedures;

  • Harass staff, suppliers or other users;

  • Use the website to infringe another person’s rights.

We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the website, our customers or our legal rights.

27. Reviews, Comments and Customer Content

Where you submit a review, photograph, video, comment or other content, you confirm that:

  • The content is based on your genuine experience where presented as a review;

  • You own the content or have permission to submit it;

  • The content is not unlawful, threatening, defamatory or misleading;

  • The content does not infringe intellectual property or privacy rights;

  • The content does not contain malicious software or unauthorised advertising.

You retain ownership of your content.

You grant Japan Hub a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, display and adapt the content for operating, improving and promoting our business, subject to applicable privacy law.

We may remove content that breaches these Terms, but we are not required to remove a genuine negative review merely because it is critical.

28. Intellectual Property

The website and its contents may include intellectual property owned by or licensed to Japan Hub, including:

  • Brand names;

  • Logos;

  • Website design;

  • Graphics;

  • Photographs;

  • Videos;

  • Product copy;

  • Written content;

  • Software;

  • Layouts.

You may use the website for personal and lawful shopping purposes.

You must not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, sell or commercially exploit protected content without permission from the relevant rights holder.

Third-party product names, trademarks and images remain the property of their respective owners.

29. Third-Party Services and Links

Our website may contain links to or integrations with:

  • Payment providers;

  • Social media platforms;

  • Delivery tracking services;

  • Review platforms;

  • Other independent websites.

Third parties operate under their own terms and privacy notices.

Japan Hub is not responsible for the content, availability or independent practices of third-party websites that we do not control.

This does not exclude responsibility for third parties acting directly on our behalf where the law makes us responsible for their actions.

30. Privacy and Cookies

Our collection and use of personal information are explained in our Privacy Policy.

Our website may also use cookies and similar technologies. Where required by law, non-essential cookies will be used only after appropriate consent has been obtained.

By placing an order, you acknowledge that we must process certain personal information to:

  • Process payment;

  • Fulfil the order;

  • Arrange delivery;

  • Provide customer support;

  • Prevent fraud;

  • Comply with legal obligations.

31. Our Responsibility to You

We are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill.

A loss is foreseeable where it was obvious that it would happen or where both parties knew it might happen when the contract was formed.

We do not exclude or limit responsibility where doing so would be unlawful, including responsibility for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence;

  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;

  • Breach of your statutory rights relating to products;

  • Products we do not have the right to sell;

  • Any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

If you purchase as a consumer, we are not responsible for losses that relate solely to business activity, including loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity or commercial data.

32. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

We will not be responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as:

  • Severe weather;

  • Natural disasters;

  • War or civil unrest;

  • Epidemics or public-health restrictions;

  • Transport disruption;

  • Customs disruption;

  • Industrial action;

  • Government restrictions;

  • Telecommunications or power failures;

  • Carrier network failures;

  • Cyberattacks that could not reasonably have been prevented.

We will take reasonable steps to minimise the effect of the event and keep affected customers informed.

Where an event causes a substantial or indefinite delay, you may have the right to cancel and receive a refund for products not supplied.

33. Suspension or Withdrawal of the Website

We may temporarily suspend, restrict or change parts of the website for:

  • Maintenance;

  • Security;

  • Technical updates;

  • Legal compliance;

  • Business changes.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the website.

Suspension of the website will not remove our obligations regarding orders already accepted.

34. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect:

  • Changes to law;

  • Changes to our services;

  • New payment or delivery methods;

  • Security requirements;

  • Changes to our business operations.

The updated Terms will be published with a revised “Last updated” date.

Changes will not normally apply retrospectively to an order already accepted unless:

  • The change is required by law;

  • The customer expressly agrees;

  • The change benefits the customer without creating a disadvantage.

35. Transfer of Rights

We may transfer our rights and obligations under a contract to another organisation as part of a business sale, restructuring or service arrangement.

Any transfer will not reduce your statutory rights.

You may transfer your rights under a contract where permitted by law or with our written agreement.

36. Severability

If a court or competent authority decides that part of these Terms is unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining sections will continue to apply.

The affected section will be interpreted or adjusted only to the minimum extent necessary to make it lawful and enforceable.

37. No Waiver

If we do not immediately enforce a provision of these Terms, this does not mean that we have waived our right to enforce it later.

A delay in exercising a right does not prevent that right from being exercised.

38. Third-Party Rights

Unless expressly stated otherwise, a person who is not a party to the contract between you and Japan Hub does not have the right to enforce these Terms.

This does not affect any rights or remedies available independently under applicable law.

39. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and contracts formed through our website are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you live in England or Wales, legal proceedings may normally be brought in the courts of England and Wales.

If you live in Scotland, you may normally bring proceedings in Scotland or England and Wales.

If you live in Northern Ireland, you may normally bring proceedings in Northern Ireland or England and Wales.

Customers living outside the United Kingdom may also benefit from mandatory consumer protections in their country of residence where applicable.

40. Complaints

Please provide:

  • Your full name;

  • Your order number;

  • A clear explanation of the issue;
